Lawrence music venue

The Bottleneck

737 New Hampshire St · Lawrence’s mid-size rock room.

The Bottleneck is the room punk kids and metal heads point to first. One block east of Mass Street on New Hampshire, no frills, a floor that holds a real moshing crowd, and a calendar that fills with the kind of tours that don’t play arenas. Alpha Wolf, Humbled Pride, Diablo’s Inferno, Stoney St-st-star’s themed disco night — the Bottleneck calendar tells you a lot about the corners of the Lawrence scene that don’t make the front page.

Most shows are 18+ or all-ages with 21+ bar wristbands. Doors usually 7 or 8, show an hour after.

Why people go

Why people go

For the bands you can’t see anywhere else in this state without driving to Kansas City. The Bottleneck books a working middle-ground — bigger than a Replay show, smaller and more intimate than a Granada arena-style night — and the floor is always close enough to the stage to feel like part of the show.
